how does removing gyro brakes on a bike and replacing them with a normal cable get rid of weight?

also any ways to lighten my bmx would be helpful. i took off pegs, reflectors, chian gaurds, and kickstand.please tell me more ways i can get a couple of pounds off my bike.
oh and it was 29 lbs when I got It now its 24lbs

Unless you become a weight weeny like some road bike riders ~ swapping out your bike's steel bolts and fasteners for titanium, and opting for carbon fiber seat-posts and handlebars ~ there's not much else you can do with your current bike. Even then your weight savings would be in ounces and not pounds.

The biggest opportunity for weight savings on a bike is its frame, the wheels, and the crank. Unfortunately, these are also the most expensive components of the bike. You'd be better off buying a new bike with all the best stuff on it than buying the parts separately.
