Coated Rust

How to stop and prevent rust on truck?

Inside door has some rust and I would like to prevent before it gets out of control. Should I sand and then coat, or are there products available that just coats over and prevents further rust?

The only way to keep it from spreading is to cut the rust - all of it - out of the affected area and patch the area with steel.
