black smoke out the muffler?

when i step on the accelerator pedal, black smoke escapes my muffler. I think its bite. other times when I press on the throttle, black smoke isn't as bad. sometimes its smoke clear. I checked the oil and stuff miscalanious in my engine, and for the most part, everything seems fine. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS. what do you think could be causing this problem? Can it really be blocked? the "check engine" light in my car all the time. I use Castrol GTX oil for about a month now. I'm having my car plugged into a computer and I'll post them codes here whenever I have a chance.

Black smoke usually means: 1. you burn oil you use 2 or a rich air / misture fuel. too rich means that your engine is to obtain an air / fuel with too much gas in it. causing the dirty smoke I think that's what happens. this is why your car feels like it is clogged. cuz you drove your car like so long as the black smoke clogged your catalytic converter and it is not fluid and more. you'll have to replace the catalyst and oxygen sensors and repair components of emissions from your car to fail and go "mode rich" first next time do not ignore the "check engine" light started going in a parts store like Autozone national and ask them to remove the codes for you. is a 1998 if you have OBD-2 system. it will take 2 minutes. they just plug the code reader under the dashboard, all vehicles have a record of where it is required by law. they read the codes, then you can post codes here and we'll help you find what's wrong with this car. parts stores do not usually charge for this service. just returned after codes and we'll find out more
