Polished Alloy

what is the best way to paint an alloy wheel?

materials needed? the process? alloy wheel has some polished and non-polished surface.
i want the raw look of steelies and the benefits of alloys. the wheels are brand new (gift), i really like the design and i cant find a wheel that looks like it. so, i am painting them.

The best way:

Take tires off

Either have them sandblasted, or degrease, clean them THOROUGHLY, then sand them with 400 grit paper and some fine grade 3M pads (home depot, Lowes) for the difficult areas.

If you go cheap and use rattle cans, it's probable you'll experience peeling and flaking.

If you're in it for the short term and don't have $200 to ahve them done at a body shop, Go to Auto-Zone or PepBoys or ?? and get some primer & wheel paint.

My main point is to Clean them thoroughly and prep them correctly. Any paint job is 90% preperation.
