Crank Arm

Posted on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Bike Parts

Where can I get one crank arm?

I came across a Truvativ Elita crankset from my store. only problem is the side drive arm not stripped pedal threads and they are too far to tap. the rest of the set is in very good condition and I even the bottom bracket for it. I want to know if there is any way I can get just the left arm without having to buy a whole. ive scoured ebay without success so far.

EpicRacer you the Lefty! we were looking for a few weeks ago - seriously the question arises here somewhere (I just cannot find that moment) where the guy had a left crank it wanted to sell. You might get lucky and it a Truvativ. Go through the open issues and resolved to do more than one month - it does not seem like it was so long - I'm sure in December. Now, fixing your crank. You can get it repaired, even if it's too far to tap. Bring it to a machine shop, remember the pedal so they understand that it is left handed thread. Install a helicoil. If you've never done - not to try. You must obtain this patch on the appropriate axis for the pedal (there must be room for the crank). If they can not put the helicoil in for whatever reason, ask if they can weld the crank and retype it. What is welding going into the hole. Just a layer or two - they do not weld shut. Then, the hole is drilled and son are off. Anyway - well done the job will be like new.
